The Alphabet 3
The Dutch alphabet has 26 letters, which are divided into vowels (klinkers) and consonants (medeklinkers).
If a noun ends in a vowel (including -y but excluding –e), the plural is formed with apostrophe + s (-‘s):
agenda’s (diaries), okapi’s (okapis), foto’s (photos), menu’s (menus), baby’s (babies)
In possessive constructions an apostrophe is only used when the noun ends in an /s/ sound or a vowel (a, e, i, o, u, y).
